The game's fast-paced action, memorable characters, and uniquely-crafted maps set a new standard for FPS games. Unforgettable missions like "No Russian" cemented MW2's legacy as a classic. The multiplayer maps, such as Rust and Terminal, became the setting for countless intense battles. This was one of many games that had the glorious experience of “midnight releases”—standing in line for hours, waiting to play for hours, all the way to the feeling of dropping your first nuke. It was an incredible video game, and easily my favorite of all time.
2. Apex Legends
Apex Legends, released in 2019 by Respawn Entertainment, brought a fresh twist to the battle royale genre. Combining hero-based gameplay and abilities with momentum based movement system derived from the Titanfall universe, smooth mechanics, and heroes with real character, it quickly gained popularity. Its intense and dynamic combat, along with strategic team play keep the game engaging, making it a standout in the crowded battle royale market. Each Legend, with their unique abilities, allows for varied playstyles and strategic depth. The game’s fast-paced movement, combined with fluid gunplay and tactical decision-making, has kept players coming back, fostering a dedicated community and an ever-evolving competitive scene. At the top of the Battle Royal genre is Apex Legends.
3. Black Ops 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 introduced a compelling narrative with multiple endings based on player choices, a first for the series. Its multiplayer mode was highly regarded for its balanced gameplay and diverse maps, and perhaps being the cleanest of all the Call of Duty titles even today. The game's Zombies mode, with its intricate Easter eggs and storytelling, also became a fan favorite, adding to its appeal. The multiplayer experience was enhanced by the introduction of Scorestreaks, providing incentives for varied gameplay styles. The Pick 10 system revolutionized loadout customization, offering players unprecedented control over their setups, contributing to a highly engaging and personalized multiplayer experience. The game felt the best. The guns and gunfights felt great, the maps were intuitive, everything about it just felt polished.
4. FIFA 14
FIFA 14 stands out in the long-running soccer simulation series for its refined gameplay and introduction of the Ignite Engine, which enhanced graphics and realism. The game's Ultimate Team mode became a massive hit, allowing players to build and manage their dream teams. Not to mention, playing with the Atlanta Falcons and Michael Vick. At the time, it was as close to a natural cheat code as one could have.

It carried a lot of folks through the covid-19 pandemic, offering chances to connect with friends in some way while being locked down.
